if the groundskeepers ever have any edge trimmings, or even better, turfs, after any remodelling of beds and borders, they could be chucked in, and the chickens would love them.Come spring there will be sprouts and things growing in the woodchips also, but beyond that there is nothing we can do.
I will remind them! They dumped some ton-bags of autumn leaves in there last year and it was very much appreciated.
