This morning, I found a worm in the chicken yard. It was about a foot long and resembled a cooked angel hair pasta but darker in color. What do I need to do?

What kind of worm? Was it an earthworm? Round worm? Was it in their poo? Just hanging out in the yard?

If you think your birds may have worms, you need to deworm them.

I don't know what kind of worm. That's why I described it. I hoped somebody would know. It was just hanging out in the yard squirming around. I did notice my rooster had runny poop.

Thank you SOOO much! This was very informative. I'm still new at all of this, so some of my questions may seem dumb.

I've only seen roundworms actually in poo, never just in the yard. How strange. Good luck deworming, I just did that about a month ago. I read you have to toss out the eggs when you're worming your chickens for about 2 weeks afterwards. :(

Two days ago I saw one hanging from one of my hens.

The only thing I can think of is that it rained all night last night, so maybe it washed the poop away or something. I don't know. They haven't started laying eggs yet, so that's a good thing. They are about 20 weeks old. I hope they start laying soon, but not for another 2 weeks, apparently. I'm gonna be sad if I can't eat the first egg :(
