My 5 welsummers are just over 5 months old. Their combs and wattles have grown like crazy the last few weeks, and they are beginning to follow me around, chatting away. A couple of pics of the 2 with the biggest combs:

Then today, I found this cozy arrangement in the nest box

I moved the golf balls in there, but surely it must be soon... But how long is soon? Days? Weeks?

Going a little crazy here!

Just went and did the math... They're 22.5 weeks, so well within 'normal' range. I'm running down to the coop many times a day to check, too - plus searching the run, etc, just in case! Although I'm really happy they like the nesting box, just need to put something in it!

LOL. I've offered to change their names... To nugget, dumpling, stew, ...

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out!

I had a weslummer in this last batch of chicks and she started laying at about 24 weeks.

Show them a roasting pan and ask them if they would prefer to "lay" in there!

I'll be really soon! Check out that other thread and post on there as well. Funny informative stuff!

My husband use to scream at our old hens about eggs. "I WANT EGGS OR YALL ARE GOING TO BE DINNER!!" i thought he had really went off the deep end
