Hi all, posting more for peace of mind. I am picking up eggs next weekend for my first hatch, so I've been familiarizing myself with the incubator. The bracket for my govee came in today. When the govee sits on the bottom, the temp is right on, but in the bracket, it's a lot lower. I know that incubators will have different temps at different locations, but wanted to confirm that this is ok? I'm running a maticoopx 20, and am going to be doing a dry hatch.

Sorry folks, I think it's fine. I flipped it over and the temp is rising.

I'm not sure where the actual temperature element is inside of the Govees, but the orientation of them certainly matters. I had mine laying flat and it was quite low. So put it on it's stand and it measures a bit higher (and roughly where it should be). As long as you trust your incubator to regulate the temperature well, it doesn't matter quite so much what the Govee says as you're just using it for confirmation.
The biggest thing is finding something you trust. I just "cooked" a batch of goose eggs trusting a thermometer that has been accurate in the past. Ignoring another new thermometer as "it must be way off". killed 7 of 10 eggs. :( The other three are still kicking.

If you press and hold that little button on top of the Govee for ~3 seconds it will reset the min/max on the display. Once things are stabilized it's nice to do that so you can get a snapshot of how far things are swinging without standing there and staring at it. Good luck with your eggs!

I feel like it reading correctly when sitting the right way makes me worry less about it, and it matches the incubator itself.

I'll just use it to monitor humidity mostly, as those don't align, even after calibration.

As I recall, there's a way to calibrate a hygrometer in a bag with salt and water. And with the Govee app, you can calibrate the sensor.
