Government has my baby's DNA?!

I think it is absolutely a positive thing for the routine testing of newborns. I think that each state has it's set of genetic tests that are required and they have been doing this for some time. Many times these articles don't point out the positive things and word the article in a way that is a scare tactic to get people's attention.

What people don't realize is that many of these screens are for diseases that if not caught in the first couple years of the baby's life can cause severe brain damage or death. Some of these conditions can be corrected by changing the diet of the baby in those early years and completely altering the outcome.

I'm not sure what I think of long term storage of DNA without the parents consent. It can be of great help for research in certain diseases. I think that maybe the parents should be told that the sample will be kept for possible future research.

Please read up and educate yourself about newborn screening tests before assuming there is a conspiracy theory behind it. Newborn screening is an advancement in public health.

What they are really doing is collecting DNA of every US citizen born after a certain year to clone. They are indoctrinating all the clones so that when the US gets nuked, and then we in turn nuke everyone else, they will have an immediate way to repopulate with like minded 'individuals' and there will finally be world peace because everybody is the same, and all the government officials who were in all those paid-for-by-tax-payer-dollars-underground-safety-bunkers for just such an occasion can come out and rule the world. Or...it's just a harmless database. I'm still undecided.

Have anyone of you had your kids fingerprinted for those "We can find your kid if lost" thing. Well who do you think has a copy of that?

Okay I vote against this! Incredible, on one end of the scheme of things, I cannot retrieve records my daughter needed for college without her permission although she asked me to get them..... She had to send a certified letter signed by witnesses so I could get a copy of her birth ceritificate and say that I would produce my employee tag

And now, unbeknownst to you Your child's DNA is a matter of record.

Well, the government gave up on NAIS and is now on humans.

I'm sorry, I don't believe in being inflammatory, but that's just goofy. Will they call her at a later time if they need some thing related to DNA?

I don't understand.....I wonder if they have mine.....Ha,,,,,I don't even think they knew what DNA was so long ago!

I don't have a problem with testing for health purposes, but does it really need to go into a massive database and be passed around for "research"? I don't want someone goofing around with my DNA without my permission.
