Nope I refuse to allow a stranger to access my childs personal information like that... I think all the booths that are set up at the mall are just a calling card for child predators..

I update my childs pic in a folder every year along with a voice recording and fingerprints. my dentist had dental records .. yes if DNA was ever needed to ID my child then i guess I would be out of luck

I think that one more people see just what the government tracks there will be more at home births...

I absolutely agree, in the sense newborn screening to insure their health is a good thing. The part that concerned me was them storing for indefinately, not asking the parents or even telling them what they are doing and allowing out-side researchers access to it, so they can do God only knows what in the name of research. If people want to volunteer, then by all means, but to be forced is another issue.

The only problem i can see with this is that if the insurance companies get ahold of this info they could discriminate aganist giving coverage if anything is found wrong...
Trust me...they DO discriminate...i have a genetic disease which is causing me to have early ovarian failure....and if my insurance company knew about it they would not cover my Donor egg IVF that i am going to do next month... So my doctors office had to be tricky and submit my reason for needing the IVF as high FSH levels... (basically early ovarian failure..)...the docs office told me that if they would have submitted it as a genetic problem..i would not be covered for the IVF....
