I don't really like GPS's, my BF had to get one. I would rather get the directions before hand on the computer and look at the route (I'm the one who drives). I don't trust them, and I will tell you why. We when to see my mom and her BF the day after thanksgiving. He lives a little over an hour north of us. We went up there once before, so I had an idea of where we were going. Luckily I looked up the directions before going and wrote them down. The GPS wanted us to get off a different exit. We needed exit four. At exit 1 "exit right... here". Exit 2 'exit right... here', exit 2 b 'exit right... here' and the same for exit 3 and 3b. So we take our exit and the GPS and my directions pretty much cyniced up, until we are almost there. You know that 'mayhem' commercial? The one where he is the GPS and says 'turn left.. NOW!!', and the guy turns down the one way street. Well, that is pretty much what this GPS did. The only thing was there was no street where it wanted us to turn. Not even a drive way or parking lot. Even better, it wanted us to turn left, when our turn was a couple blocks ahead, on the right. On the way back it wanted us to make every right turn, when it is a straight ride. Last time we listened to it and ended up taking the very long scenic route. Our way cut about 20 minutes off from the last time. There was another time, my mom moved but I knew the area. We took the GPS anyway just in case. Way before we got close it keep saying to turn right (what is it with this thing and right turns?

) If we would have turned right we wouldn't have been able to get to the house. We finally get close to where we needed to go right and it says go left

So that is why I don't like GPS's. Stupid things always trying to get me lost

And this Friday we are going up to Hamburg PA for a reptile show. Neither of us have ever been up there, so wish us luck. Hopefully it doesn't take us to Ohio instead.

I have had a GPS since they first came out and have really come to rely on them regardless where I am driving. Having said that it is true that there are times when it can send you on a curious route that only exists in the "mind" of that lady inside the GPS. For the most part having a GPS has proven to be very helpful and I wont leave home without one.

Hubby bought one last year, Magallan to be exact....worthless piece of ***** if you ask me! It tried to get us to go different directions including going around the block at the grocery store!!!!

Thank you, I will stick with the maps, its been handy and reliable for hundreds of years!

There is a road around here that has a lowish bridge. The GPS's are always getting trucks stuck under it. Or they have to try to turn around. The road is narrow, hilly and curves.

I hate them, went on vaca. last month and dh swears they are great. We got lost so many times. He would never admit they were the reason why.
I even went by the map, to prove him wrong, to no avail.
