I purchased a used GQF a few years back.
So after trying to use it for a year with very little success with my chicken eggs, I called GQF and discovered that it was for Ostrich eggs. (The seller didn't bother to tell me that, and in fact, told me that he had been successfully using it for quail.) When I called GQF, they told me that I needed another motor which blew less air (therefore didn't blow the eggs dry). They said that it would probably hatch few chickens because it was too powerful.
So I got a new motor. Hubby isn't in to my chicken hatching business, so he was very slow in getting the motor in. In fact, I purchased the motor a year ago, and it finally was put in a couple of weeks ago.
Thrilled, I started eggs. I just candled the eggs I put in five days ago, and it doesn't look like a single one is alive. I cannot see a single bit of veins (which I should with my Cool Light Candler. Some were purchased eggs.
I have purchased five thermometers. They are all Accurite. But they are accu-wrong. I have two that read within tenths of each other. The rest vary from broken to 108. I guess I'll go with the two that seem the same.
I put in eggs from my own chickens and two other people's chickens. The first batch was put in on 3/30 and the second was put in on 4/1. I am really good at panicing early, so I could be doing that, but I don't see anything in the eggs. I can see a thickened yolk in some of them, but nothing that looks like blood vessels.
I did not hatch eggs last year due to a death in my family and the fact that hubby refused to put in the motor. So I could be prematurely panicking.
I hope I'm not a bad hen (or my GQF is not a bad hatcher). I am feeling really nervous about this because I ordered some eggs (after testing and checking temps and finding everything all right).
Any thoughts?

Just make sure if they are shipped eggs that when you reach days 7-10 you check the air pockets to make sure they are in the right position. If you are unsure just type in it on google and I'm sure plenty of information with come up for you as I'm horrible at describing whats normal lol. Good luck to ya and don't worry it's only day 5
