Grab a cup...Putting the Coffee on!

Have you not heard that a watched pot never boils.

I have gotten to the point, where I set my eggs to hatch during the week while I am at work. I love coming home to healthy chicks. Otherwise I get nothing done because I check on them every 15 minutes.

Find something to do. Go shopping. Visit a friend. It helps releive the stress.

Joining you at the pot - turkeys due tomorrow and or Sunday. One abandoned chicken egg due... tomorrow or Sunday. Then Guineas on the 9/10th. Another ort egg on the week after that, then .... LOL... about two weeks or three after that another round of turkeys...

I can stop any time I want to really... Oh yeah, and the eggs I'm saving from my BR and the show PR eggs I am buying ... LOL. anytime I want to... sure.. sure...

Well, No chicks. I'm not really sure what's going on. I candled a few tonight to see and there's no movement or anything. They were jam'n away in there on day 18. They seemed a tad small in there but good pulses and movement. I figured they would do some growing over the next three days. Now I think they are dead. I'm a bit confused...Some of the eggs are too dark for me to see in. No pips or peeps. I am hopeful for tomorrow morning. Maybe one or two????? I can't believe that all of them wouldn't hatch.

I find myself in that all too familiar place. What happened?!

I don't really think that I did anything wrong. The only difference in this batch from the first was that I hand rolled the first randomly and these were in a turner...I call it a slosher. Doesn't turn them.

Anyway. Thanks for hanging with me. I'll keep everyone up to date.

Night.

Oh my goodness! I can't believe that it is Sunday already.

Well, I committed to letting them sit until Sunday about 1:00pm before I would take them out, crack them to see what was going on and set my next hatch.

Thank goodness I did. There was a pip and a peep late lastnight!!!!!!!!!!

He actually walked in, looked in bator and said "You burned it." then walked out.

I'm glad that I read a thread where some one suggested to let them go 48 hours past day 21. They never would have had a chance. All three of my own children were late...why wouldn't my eggs!

Yippee!

Good luck with your hatch. I've got 19 eggs in the hatcher myself. They went in Friday so the time is getting near. Waiting sure is hard.

My late and backwards chick is out and making it. One of the poults quit overnight. One is pipped, two are somewhat behind, not nearly as drawn down, so later today rather than earlier...

That whole - go to bed they're alive and wake up and they quit thing - can really be frustrating but with turkeys it happens more frequently than chicks ever do.

Still one part way out, I'll take. These were my last rescued eggs from my fox-killed turkey, Gail. I wasn't sure they were good, took awhile to find them in the primrose/blackberries/thorn vines (dunno what it was but OWWWW), poison ivy and TICKS. PS that bird hated me...

So poults from that group would be nice but not expected. Now the Buffs I got to replace my lost hen are laying and one has gone broody, so yay. I have a few of their eggs in the bator and two are definitely fertile. I'm letting the hen sit ten and pulling the others. So more turkeys --- yay.
