Grain-free dog food

If you like Orijen, look into Acana (produced by Orijen but has a little lower price point). Acana Ranchlands does not contain chicken (we also have a dog that does not do well with chicken-based food).

Just the opposite....Orijen is produced by Acana, it's their premium and completely grain free line. I feed Orijen with raw goats milk to my dogs, almost no treats except for Stella and Chewy's freeze dried "pucks" broken into pieces. I do use Bixbi suppliments as well, joints specifically, but they have a skin and coat product that is supposed to be amazing. I would highly recommend it. As a groomer I can tell you that seasonal shedding is natural, though if your pet is doing it as excessively as you describe, especially year round, then I would need more information. What breed/mix, what part of the country are you in (a husky type dog in the southern U.S. will shed heavily year round no matter what).

Orijen 6 fish was the answer to our prayers! We had tried many other foods trying to identify allergies. Since then we feed the regional red during the winter and fish in the summer. Both dogs are doing great!

Actually, what I meant to say is that Orijen and Acana are produced by the same company - Champion Foods. Orijen is higher in price; Acana is the lower price point food.

I see, I knew there was a parent company to both, but pretty sure Acana hit the market first, I use Orijen since I have one dog with allergies and one is a cancer survivor, switched them from Evo to Orijen when he was diagnosed and going through surgery (he was in a feeding tube for 3 months). Vets gave him 6-8 months since the cancer was very aggressive and during the 4 surgeries required it began to metastasize into his lungs. That was in 2009, he's still going strong today at nearly 14 years of age!

Trust me, first came Orijen, then came Acana. We loved the Orijen products, however, didn't much care for how expensive it is and were thrilled when Champion came out with Acana.

Hmmm......maybe it's just where im located, and incorrect information here from the sources. My mom uses Acana for her dog, and he does great on it, mine as I said do the same on Orijen. Either food would be a good way to go in terms of helping deal with allergies. Acana is out for me since oats are one of the allergies my youngest suffers from, though some of their lines are oat free, I found it far easier to meet the needs of both dogs in Orijen.

Do you recall which one has oats? I'm thinking of trying Acana. Love Orijen but the recent price increases have made me think about the Acana.

(Should probably just go to the website and look it up myself. Pretty sure one of my dogs has a poultry allergy, and doesn't do well on grains.)

The Acana Regionals are grain-free:

Our one dog is allergic to chicken so we feed him the Acana Ranchlands
