Last Sunday we put 24 eggs in the incubator. My 6 year old gdd dropped one and while we were cleaning it up there was a bit of blood. Decided to candle and as far as I can tell, all seem to be developing. I'm so excited. They are all mutts. We had gotten brown egg layers from McMurray and they threw in an Andalusion rooster. It will be interesting to see what develops. I know there is a bit of time till day 21 and anything can happen.

Sorry about the egg, it happens to the best of us unfortunately. The rest is exciting news though

Hatching is wonderful, especially for children. Glad it seems to be going so well, and that your grandchild is getting to experience it with you. And yes, 21 days goes so slowly, especially for a first hatch. Good luck!!! Carrie

It can happen to anyone...I was carryng 4 eggs into the dark bathroom to candel and that thought came to me as I was trying to open the door

It sounds as if they are coming along nicely. Good luck!

If there are any cracks in the eggs, put candle wax on them. My two year old dropped one of mine and cracked it and some wonderful people on here told me to melt a candle and put the wax over the crack. I did it and they are developing just fine!

How much do I LOVE my BYC community?!?!?!?!

I just cracked an egg while candling and thought, "I am going to get on BYC and see if anyone has any advice for me!!" And here you all are. Candle wax! Who'd a thunk it??

Thank you!!!!
