I think you'll find most of the posters here are practical quail raisers. Every once in a while someone new comes along and isn't tolerant of the rest of us who get the bird math.
It's probably the one reason I don't advertise quail for sale, but if approached will sell them to others and offer to take back the extra males when needed. (Just don't ask me how they're doing, though)
Congrats on your new adventure. Quail are easily the easiest way to sustainably source meat (aside, perhaps from rabbits which I know I couldn't harvest). I like to tell people you can have a serving of quail in less than the time it takes to raise a salad tomato.
