Granny's gone and done it again

Phew. Good thing about getting a little bitty turkey - it fits in my big honkin stock pot for brining purposes. Bad thing - forgot to get a brining bag so I had to water down the brine a bit to cover it all. Sigh. Oh well. Also added an extra splash of maple whiskey ;) it’ll be good.

Did a lazy dinner tonight. Frozen lasagna. Tomorrow will Be ambition enough haha. Gotta do one last groc shop - will do that later tonight. Wish me luck.

Plans for CHRISTMAS. None really. My daughter who is the mother of my grandkids down here is deep into the Bible and somehow has come up with the idea that Christmas gifts is wrong so will not allow the kids to receive any. Of course I could argue with her about it but before she became religious she was a hard core alcoholic. So I don't want to tip over the Apple cart . So no tree or nothing
candy and ice cream isnt a gift, its food. Just saying..

Sorry to hear that, Pert. Christmas is extra special with young kids. I t is better than the drinking for sure, but still kind of sad. Sounds like 7th day Adventist, no celebrations of any kind, kids do not pledge the flag, and no money exchanged on holy days. There is a huge agricultural heirloom festival in our town, but it runs Mon-Fri, so many people can't go. I always wondered why they didn't carry it over for the weekend, and turns out the people who started it are Adventists. No business allowed on weekends.
Maybe you could sneak them a little something for New Years... coloring book or something fun disguised as educational.

When I was 7, dad got rid of Santa and trees, trick-or-treating, and the Easter bunny. He’s a Methodist preacher. There’s still plenty of fun things to do. Go read the Christmas story from the Bible by candlelight with hot cocoa, or show them how to cut stars and snowflakes from paper. Ask about goody bags with socks, oranges, crayons, etc. There are lots of fun Christmas traditions in other cultures, like leaving grass and carrots for camels (the wise men) and receiving treats in your shoes as a thank you.

Or just go toss a ball in the yard and whistle jingle bells.

That is true! You can make it special without going overboard.

I almost bought Robert an echo dot yesterday. I think they are cool and he said they are no good unless you have a smart house . Umm, Hu ?? I guess we have a dumb house.
