I am thinking i will put bag balm on the Sussex combs tomorrow. It may go down to 9 F . I did not let them out today.

I built a 3' wide by 3' tall and 8 foot long chicken tractor for that. A little more than half is boxed in and the rest is like a run. Heat lamp in the boxed part ( in a wooden box with hardware cloth). Worked well for a while until they outgrew that.

I don't like vaseline because it is petroleum based. Just me. Lots of folks use it.

mine is 2x3 x6 with 10 half grown littles in it. That is doubled what it was 2 weeks ago.
