My GD loves to cook with me. If she says she wants a certain food, I tell her to get the ingredients (I don't name them) & she hardly ever misses one. She measures some things for me & stirs. She is very observant & has a good memory. Yesterday we went to town & I turned on the road to go home. She said,"Mawmaw, you begot the chickens need feed.".

You are training her well.

Thats what I been doing ! It does say use warm water add a little table salt but only shows them doing it on the handle . One said use a credit card in the cracks of the door but I dont have one. Wanna let me borrow yours ? hahahaaaaa

I would love to cook with you Jane. I bet your GD is better at it then I am. Mom never let us in the kitchen when she was cooking. said she didnt want anyone under foot. I know my health prevents me from doing a lot but there is more I could be doing then I am. I just cant get it. I dont really understand how people spend hrs in there for something that is gone in 10 min and all you end up with is a sink full of dirty dishes.

for me there are a number of reasons :


1) I actually enjoy taking a bunch of "random" things and making something tasty (usually)

2) IT's Cheaper

3) its healthier (again usually)

4) if I don't do it I won't get the "goodies/meals" I grew up with

5) did I mention it's Cheaper, as I figure my time is free.

6) the since of satisfaction I get when others eat my food and actually look like they are BEFORE the "polite it's good" and such.

7) you can "expierment" with different amounts and ingredients

As teens my brother would ask me if I was hungry. Because he was hungry and wanted food lol I’d say no so he’d go get a pop tart or cereal. He’s upgraded to microwave pizza now lol
I tried to teach him to cook a few times but he can’t follow simple directions!


I need to go do chicken chores but nothing the rest of the day I think.

my brother (tx) can be that way and then calls me to see how "mom did it" and then occasionally has the balls to argue with me (I may have been know to hang up on him them) I know my way works and obviously his didn't or he would NOT have called and asked for help

One thing I read said to lean against the door. If you can get the rubber seal to compress in the right way, it will break the ice. Guy in the video warns not to force the handle. Not sure how you get a frozen handle to work. Lots of conflicting info.

supposed to snow all day . they just scraped the road . I am not sure how I will get the barn door open. It dont have a zipper !
