Granny's gone and done it again

I raised a jay once. It was awesome. taught it to fly. it was floating down the street when i found it. I had him for about 3 weeks then put him out in his cage and the mom and dad came and started feeding him through the cage Bars ! 3 weeks and they knew him. So I got to release him and they went off together.

Spooky smart, they are. Cousin of my friend in 4 th grade had a raven that they raised. Bird was free, but lived in their backyard and talked with them and took food. It was still under a year, so not sure hom long it stayed. I always thought it would be neat to have one after that. Up at the farm yesterday, saw a bunch of crows heading over from across the creek to land in a madrone tree up on our hill. I was amazed there were so many, and dad said that was only part of the group. Sat and watched them fly over in small groups... there were hundreds of them!! Couldn't believe it. He says they are there all the time. Made me think of The Birds. (Hitchcock)
