It's been a soup week here. Made split pea & ham Monday, today potato & ham & tonight I sorted beans & put them on to soak for bean & ham soup tomorrow. Made 2 loaves of artisan bread this afternoon to go with the soups.

I went to Harbor Freight today . Bought a bag of black zip ties for $2. , a meat thermometer for $2. and a knife that hides inside a key that will go on my key chain. Now when I go shopping and buy a bag of candy I wont have to use the car key to try and get into it . I can munch my way home.

That’s Benji. I stole his mama from some kids in low-income apartments. They were dropping her from the top of a jungle gym over and over. When she hit the ground she’d run until they caught up and she’d roll over and lay still. They’d drag her up and throw her off again. So I took her home. She had four puppies on mother’s day, the day she was supposed to go to her new home. :/ The runt died, after a day or two, but the rest were healthy and cute! Sarah (the assistant) kept Benji. He’ll be five in May.

Soo, the broody that was so mean I put with the littles and then kicked her out ... She has thrown the seabrite broody off her nest and took it over . Yup, sitting again. I cant touch her . Tom threw my work gloves away and even if he hadnt I dont know what I would do w/ her. So the seabrite has no eggs now.

I was thinking the same as Alley. You can throw a towel over her too.

I think so for just him. I’ve caught Roxie underneath DH’s truck on a hot day. She also regularly goes underneath the brooder.

I've got room for 4-6 chicks until summer weather kicks in. Hubs is wanting more egg laying machines, so that is what I will get this spring.
