Granny's gone and done it again

So I understand a female can have a litter of pups from more than one male. Over how how long a period can the eggs be fertilized? You Arse tried twice with Beth. Could some of the puppies have been from the first try and some from the second? That much difference in age?
Well , they say no.
Dogs ovulate over a 24 hr period. The eggs then must mature before they can be fertilized. It takes 48-36 hrs for the eggs to mature. Then after fertilization they float around in the two horns of the uterus for approx 21 days. They implant in the horns hopefully staggered enough so each fetus has room to grow at an optimal rate. So they are all basically the same age. They say the small ones just didn’t have a good spot or they were overcrowded.
This is the way I understand it.

No, three is a good age. They are better moms after the first time. They kinda of get it. Was yuri the father of the other litters?
Abby's first 3 were with Hymnull , Lu is from one of these breedings

Abby's last 2 were by Yuri and Lu's was with Yuri as well, Beth is from this litter

Beth's litter is fathered by Arsenal

My brother's BANANA BREAD recipe that he told me over the phone while I scribbled it down.
No mixer required, just use a spoon because the butter is melted. Easy peasy.

1/2 c butter
3/4 c sugar (calls for white, I use dark brown)
2 eggs, beaten
3 very ripe bananas, mashed
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 c hot water
{mix dry ingredients in small bowl}
1 c all purpose flour
1 c whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 c chopped walnuts (I use 1 cup- yummy)
nutmeg & cinnamon :idunno I just put some in, maybe 1/4 tsp nutmeg and 1-2 tsp cinnamon (love it!)

preheat oven to 350*

Melt butter in a microwaveable mixing bowl
(don't cook butter, just melt)
Blend in sugar, stir it well
Add beaten eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla
Mix well
Gradually stir in mixed dry ingredients, alternating with portions of hot water. Goal is thickish consistency that still pours. Use more or less hot water as needed.

Pour batter into lightly greased loaf pan (I use parchment on the bottom), bake in 350 oven for 50-60 mins. Use toothpick to check if done. Let it cool.
Try not to eat it all at once. :)

Thanks h2o. That explains it. It didn't make sense that the pups would be different ages, but wasn't sure how it worked.

:fl Be safe, puppies
Sorry, I was writing out a recipe. For cooking! Because there is some sort of rule about it. I already have to shop for the torture chamber, use it, clean it, and now I have to write about it! And insult upon injury, now I'm hungry. Wish I had some banana bread. :p

Hi everyone. I met my older son at his work and took him out for lunch today. Then my sister (same work place) showed me pictures of a shelter dog she's considering. I said Come on! and we drove over to have a look see. They describe the dog as a shepherd cross?? but seeing him in person, he's half Ridgeback for sure! Hard to tell the other half, but some pit by the set of the ears. He even has Ridgeback personality... kind of quiet and aloof, unlike those other psycho barkers in the shelter. anyway, she'll go back and spend some time with him this weekend to see if it's a good fit. I'm kind of excited!!!

Twist
, sorry about little Mae. :(

Granny, nice looking chicks. Is Tom any better? Your foot doesn't look happy. :hmm And what's this with Robert having a sore throat?? :barnie

Cap, will be thinking about you tomorrow. Hope all goes well. :hugs

Alley, adorable little ones you hatched. Will be interesting to see how many you manage to part with. :D

Camping, Josie is for sure 10 weeks? She is scary big! Maybe that's why she was the last one. And by he way she looks at you, you can tell she wuvs her mommy!

Her estimated birthday is December 21st. She was rescued on December 31st and her eyes were still closed. I’m sure there’s some room for error, because they just don’t know. First pic is from rescue night, other pics from January 1st. Little brown pup has a squishy bully face. :love

She doesn’t wuv me, she wuvs biscuits! She has started running to the farm and not coming back when I call. She just sits on the step and looks at me even if I’m just a few feet away. :barnie I’m going to start carrying treats in my pockets and working on her recall. I have tried a long leash and it does alright but if she gets frustrated she just slips her collar. :rant Stubborn girl.

And one of her on DD’s lap, because giant. :love 11 weeks today!

Twist, so sorry for your losses. I had a foster dog give birth on mother’s day, and we lost the runt even after a vet check. Vet also told me not to feed raw eggs because of salmonella, so I was not inclined to believe her professional opinions. Even though I knew it was coming, it was still hard. Big :hugs for you.
