Well , they say no.So I understand a female can have a litter of pups from more than one male. Over how how long a period can the eggs be fertilized?YouArse tried twice with Beth. Could some of the puppies have been from the first try and some from the second? That much difference in age?
Dogs ovulate over a 24 hr period. The eggs then must mature before they can be fertilized. It takes 48-36 hrs for the eggs to mature. Then after fertilization they float around in the two horns of the uterus for approx 21 days. They implant in the horns hopefully staggered enough so each fetus has room to grow at an optimal rate. So they are all basically the same age. They say the small ones just didn’t have a good spot or they were overcrowded.
This is the way I understand it.
