Granny's gone and done it again

Sometimes I don’t care if mine like it or not! Bubba is a free spirit and likes lots of things, but there’s so much pressure on boys to like boy things. Girls are not free from gender pressures, but a girl with a train or dinosaur is not the same as a boy with a doll. Have you watched Trolls? That’s a current fam fave. DH loves it because Justin Timberlake did all the music and it’s fantastic.
No Trolls, but we are very much looking forward to the Incredibles 2.
I actually actually think the reverse is more of a problem for boys these days... they are not allowed to be boys- wild, loud, energetic, fidgety boys. They are diagnosed with ADHD and medicated at unbelievable rates to keep them calm in their seats, when really some extra time running around outside would benefit most of them. The curriculum has swung toward feminine interests and boys are quickly being left behind. Statistics are showing the girls are achieving higher graduation rates and college degrees while boys have higher suicide rates and drug addiction. The schools are failing our boys. It is a story that is not being told, but it's a negative place out there for boys, so watch your precious one.

My #1 dragged around his pink blankie for about 7 years (he still has it hidden away in his room somewhere:)) and #2 had a dolly with cool little trick bottles that magically emptied when you tipped them up to feed the baby. I think he liked the bottled more than the baby. He used her to bomb his other stuffed animals. Also, his favorite color was purple, until some ratty kids in 2nd grade told him it was a GIRL color. My guys were allowed to choose whatever interested them, and no surprise, 90% of the time, they were interested in what we typically think of as boy toys.

Boys are still very wild in this part of the country. It’s all farming, rodeo, and hunting. Girls, too, but their camo is pink.

Don’t worry about bubba! When I was trying to take pictures the other day I said to stand in front of the flowers (in the front yard). He said “but that’s where I pee!” :barnie

Sorry was a busy afternoon and evening. The pup that past was NOT flat in the least.
grocery store, made dinner, mass, finished dinner and then we ate and dishes.

I am still going with a combo of "issues" for the puppy passings.

possible premies, first time momma and God's will.
Like SIDS with babies, maybe they are not getting enough oxygen, nose pressed against mom or someone on top of them... it's so sad.

Ditto most of the things I liked to do and was good/decent at when young were things my father would look at me and say "BOYS DON"T DO THAT" well I am/was stubborn enough and had support from my mother and his mother that I did it anyway. Purple has always been my favorite color before the gays adopted it . Then for part of Dad manaditory alchol rehab he had to list what he admired the most about each of us children and then mail a copy to each of us kids. Mine was he admired my willingness/determination to do what I thought was right and do it regardless of what anyone thought including authority figures.. TOTAL VERIFICATION.

hahaaa! It's not the home life that's the problem, it's the school curriculum and teaching methods. You will run into it as he gets older. Since about 5th grade, I have had to go to teachers and ask for alternative writing prompts and research topics just to keep the boys interested. The teachers blamed the Common Core, but I don't know much about that. Just keep an eye out. If he seems disinterested in school it's because they are not letting boys pursue their interests! I will be quiet now. :duc
