My grass is very green where the septic is but I wouldnt want my fruit trees growing there. I have always heard human/dog/cat poop is terrible for eatables.

Certainly raw sewage isn't so good, from any type of animal.

I am probably way off here but I think the fruit is the dirt. Everything it is growing in is being sucked up into the meat of the apple. Does that make sense ? I never read that, just some Granny thinking LOL

argh, plant science! The roots take up water and nutrients from the soil and take it to the green parts of the plant for photosynthesis, where the water + CO2 + nutrients + sunlight produces glucose and oxygen. The plants literally turn sunlight into food! If some toxic stuff is taken up in the water it might be possible to contaminate the fruit or whatever you are growing... like arsenic tends to show up in rice (in amounts we can tolerate, but still). I guess things like antibiotics and other undesirables could wind up there, which is why organic labels are so popular.
The biggest danger from human and other non composted animal feces is usually pathogens, like ecoli, that contaminate the outside of the fruit or vegetables. Heck, anyone that doesn't wash their hands after using the toilet can contaminate your food. Always wash your fruit and veggies... you never know who's been sneezing on them!

These are the same people who think they can stop global warming... they can't possibly know what negative consequences will result from this, and there will be negative consequences. So Cal needs to learn to conserve their water... why are there so many lawns?? It's a desert!
