Granny's gone and done it again

I’m down three guineas, and I saw a hawk fly up as I was walking up so I guess that’s the first suspect. Guess I’ll fire up the bator and hatch some of the guinea eggs, I have about two dozen. Also moving the duck nests today and slipping in the rest of the eggs. Wish me luck on that one. ALSO cleaning brooders and getting chicks out of the house for good. Maybe I’ll see if my breeder will hatch for me so I don’t have to fool with it.
When you're done, I've got 2 coops that need cleaning:D

sorry about the loss .

I also worked with Josie a bit as I moved birds around, making her sit and lay down and I held the birds and let them flap in her face. She nipped at wings and toes and I gave strong verbal corrections until I could push a flapping bird into her face and she would move away from it and lay down. Every step a bit closer.

I read in the women in ag fb group about a fam that got 4h piglets. The Australian cattle dog hopped the fence and killed them, so the family had it put down. Comments got pretty heated on that one.

Thx. It’s chunks of feathers attached to meat and no bodies, so I’m thinking hawk or owl. It’s a shame. Breeder charges $1/egg at drop off. Should I start my bator, give them to a scovy, use the breeder, or just be happy with the five left? I think it’s only one hen so I don’t have a long time to think about it.

are they costing you a lot in feed ? How has the tick population been ? If your not using your bator for anything else and they are free and helping the farm????

They roam all day so I rarely see them at the feeder. Not sure if ticks are better. I guess I just don’t want to set it up and babysit for 28 days. Maybe I’ll give her half and do the other half myself.

If your going to do some, do all. you can incubate with the best of them. Do you only pay for what hatches ?
