I'm almost too embarrassed to even say this, but I got rid of college coursework that I haven't looked at in 30 yrs and will never need again. Why did I keep it all these years? It's an illness.

Some are real and some aren’t. The pretty white ones are soap. The real ones are dried.

If I think about how much time and energy I've put into managing what amounts to a bunch of crap... a huge box of cards and letters from a lifetime ago... I didn't even remember who some of the people were. Pretty foolish.

I’ve purged lots lately. It gets easier. But also not. In my office in a box I have my favorite necklace from when I was about six, all in pieces because the string broke. When I think about those beads I can smell the inside of the church on Easter Sunday. I’m never going to wear that necklace, but I keep the beads in a craft box anyway.
