I had a black dog for about 5 yrs. then my ex in laws asked for him and they kept him til his death of natural causes.

gack Is it skunk mating season or something? Dang stinkers are out there whooping it up every night. Have all the doors and windows open to cool the house off, and sure enough, eau de skunk comes wafting through. AGAIN. gag

Mutt ? He had icy blue/white eyes and a ridged back. His name was Satan. LOL He liked to be 16/18 cant remember. I found him/ he found me, in a storm. Then he was always terrified of them.

Big dog? I guess not too big... they don't live that long. What kind of coat? How wide was the ridge?

Ridge was only about an inch . Umm, short rough coat. I dont know what size to compair him to. Smaller then shepherd, Bigger then Bandit. 50-60 lbs maybe.
