Granny's gone and done it again

If you zoom in on the back of the picture you will see the scarecrow that I threw together yesterday lol.

Lots of pasty butt going on. Bunch of naked butts now. I added chick grit again and probiotics/vitamins to the water.
Something I noticed about the chick that died this morning when I found him last night his bum was wide open. No control. It wasn’t like that before. Idk what’s going on. All the chicks except 1 that died had clean buns. No sign of diarrhea or pasty butt.

Here’s one of the chicks. They all have feather development like this. For 2 weeks I expect a little more and for them to start looking mangy.
Ohhh I think I know. Mine doing the same thing. The heat we had. I ended up taking all the heat away then when this rain came I gave them 40 watts. Some are 2 weeks some are new born 2 days

I thought so too but the heat isn’t bad in the garage like outside.
They are using a plate but I took it out when I changed water and was observing and they all huddled in the corner cold without it.

Sorry about the chick troubles there Alley. This crazy weather we are all having I'm sure is not helping matters either. The only chick hatching that I like to do at this time of year is with a broody. It's just so hard to know what their heat needs are when it's hot out. My newest momma is a seasoned veteran at hatching. Her 6 are doing great. They will be a week tomorrow & have almost the same amount of feathering as your littles in the picture. Plus I had a 6 wk old roo crow today. Funniest darn sound lol.
