I was just looking at guppies last weekend. There were some beautiful fan tailed ones! So pretty. Do you know how long they live? I guess they need heated water. If I was going to set up a tank again, I would get some pretty guppies.

When I had a tank last (I was around 14) I had guppies. They lived a long time, I had a tank for 5-6years. I think it was all the babies that does the females in as my males lived 2x as long.

Hamsters are mean. And they keep you awake at night. Guinea pigs are way better. weep weep weeeep!

I had 2 nice big ones and 1 dwarf that was psycho. I like noise at night or I can’t sleep. Sensitive hearing.

Guppies and angelfish, severums - green and gold, various kinds of cory catfiash, bristled nose catfish - black and albino types, a few goldfish..

Are all guppies the same species? Some look very much like Betta fish to me.

This is what I think of as a guppy.

And this one is a fancy guppy (Poecilia reticulata) which looks like a Betta. Are these the same species? Can they interbreed? (if one was female! )

Of course Scooter is spoiled and mostly inside whenever I am and he doesn't usually want to go outside alone (unless there is a skunk), but unlike granny, I am hard hearted and don't worry even a little bit about his big sad doggie eyes and whining. Good thing we don't have many visitors!

Lol, sounds like a basset hound.. I haven't had a dog in a while, but as I remember my dogs were docile for the most part.. I had a great dane, and a few shih tzus.. and a couple that got out of hand too.. Had a basset hound that was wild, no matter how I tried to train her.. I opened the gate to the drive way, she slipped right thru my legs, shot out to the street and under the city bus..

DH broke a sweat just sitting down to eat last night and had the assistant call the AC guy. It’s not an issue til it affects him, of course. He said we were being wimps, but washing dishes in hot water, using the dish sanitizer, and cooking/cleaning in the hot humid kitchen had the staff in various states of distress. One was puking in the cabin, one was hugging a toilet in the dining hall with wet cloths on her wrists. One laid on the floor under a ceiling fan. I sat on the porch to cool off a bit. And I tried to let them take turns doing a chore in the fridge, but didn’t want to make them sick either.

So I guess that answers my question... no, there is no one to take care of you and you are busy taking care of everyone else.
Do you have some fans? Set a big bowl of ice in front of a fan and it really helps cool things down.
Or, call someone in to fix the dang ac! No ac, no food!

Oh, so sorry about your Basset. A friend of mine had one long ago, and she was a sweat heart, but she had a terrible habit of eating just about anything. Pack of sewing needles was the worst, but not the only time she needed surgery. They are as bad as Beagles for running off, but got to love those ears.

Yes and it’s a challenge getting guppies to NOT breed. Worse than bunnies I tell ya!
