There is something called embryonic diapause in some mammals where the embryo's development is put on hold. It is also called delayed implantation. Common in mice, and it seems rabbits can do it as well, but I can't find much info (well, I haven't tried that hard ). Anyway, possible that's what going on with your rabbit? Better than thinking you can't count right!
