Granny's gone and done it again

good morning all. Had a number of storm-letts roll thru last night and actually got some rain.

Enola did manage to make it out to the farm, we had a nice visit and walked/showed her everything. She got to feed Curly Sue !! Sue was being really squirley. but make the hot, dry, 25+ mph wind was "messing" with her.

We also went down and did a "necropsy" on Sheila, Smell wasn't to back until I managed to "break in" thru the hide :sick:sick:sick between that and the dead skunk down there NOT GOOD !!! Neither one of us could find any signs of a second calf. BUT OMG was Sheila full of partially digested hay. The good news (if you can call it that) was that with no twin, there is NO WORRIES about Sue being a "free martin"

Erv was at the farm when I got there, HE is going to sell me 20 to 30 bales of hay that he put up this year. He figures they weigh 1600 to 1800 pounds each and only wants $60.00 per bale. and he is willing to 'mess around" and load my car trailer with about 3 bales at a crack. :yesss::wee He is also considering selling me his hay rake that he let me borrow this summer :fl.

Made a couple ramps out of rubber coated 1/2 or 1/4 inch hardware cloth, which I wove threaded metal rods thru on the 2 edges and then bent over the extra and stuck that part in the ground so the ramps/ladders can't be moved around or fall into the swimming pools. Then re-hung with zip ties the 3 sheets of plastic lattice back up on the fence of the annex, this helps with both shade and a bit of a windbreak from the west/northwest wind.

Oh and I showed Enola my plans for the dux for the winter and she thinks it will work as well. This should make life easier for Rod this winter as he won't have to haul water to the annex for the dux. Going to close up the Annex coop for the winter other then the poop door so the cat will have another building to use for the winter.

Have church/mass in about 30 minutes and then need to send a email with pics to the owner of Aura. I may end up having to make 2 trips to Colorado, Thinking he may want more animals then I can get in my trailer. AND I am not sure I can haul 5 adult cow's back in it. Measurements are evidently NEEDED

Well. One confirmed cockerel. My buckeye started crowing this morning.

The brooder is in the garage so on the other side of the wall from hubs’ and my bed. I hear crowing think hmm. That’s a derpy crow...oh crap. Go out in the garage watch them a bit and sure enough. It’s the Buckeye.

So out of my batch of four, ONLY ONE BEING STRAIGHT RUN MIND YOU I have one confirmed cockerel, two suspected cockerels (the straight run Lorp and the California white with the big comb!) and my Easter egger whom I refuse to guess cause I remember I was convinced Sam was a he until I saw baby blue eggs!

So go back in the house, hubs is awake. “Why is that rooster crowing so loud?”
(Me) uhhh....cause it’s one of ours.
(Hubs) what?
(Me) it’s the Buckeye
(Hubs) great.

Have not told him about my other roo suspicions. I may just let them grow, see who’s less a jerk and freezer camp the rest.

Sad to hear lady has left the building. Hugs granny. People come and go. It’s the way of life.

Morning, Enola is the bomb. True friend there to help you cut through a carcass . I also have plastic lattice that is down and needs zip tied today. Lots of roads flooded. Friendship flea market this week closed , People missing. washed don the river maybe

OH dear I hope all are found safe and sound.

Actually I sort of jokingly suggested it and she JUMPED on it with both feet, and both her hands at the idea.

Evidently there is still some "Sheila" stuck in the tracks of my tennis shoes. :sick:sick:sick:sick

Which I doused in Lysol and they are now living outside.
