My GM put hers in the smoke house and covered it in salt. Mom said she would sneek in there and steal a hunk of ham off and talk about how good it was. She got whipped for it.

So I wonder what happens to the calves taken from the dairy cows shortly after birth. Formula? Veal? Critter feed?

Should have taken a pic in the packing box but Office Depot packed three big things of envelopes on their sides in a box with no stuffing. Two stayed closed. This is the third. Grr.

probably as a way to "keep" prevent the meat from going bad do to lack of freezers or refridgeration back in the day.
