Sounds delicious, Jane. Rained all day yesterday, and we'll get some more today. it's supposed to dump this weekend. I have tarps over the layer run, so it stays mostly dry. being on a slight hill, the water drains around it. but the run is too small to leave them in all day so they are out in their yard in the rain anyway! luckily it's warm enough. We put a roof on the bantam run, and they are all set. I have shade cloth on the sides to keep the rain from blowing in. works good. neighbor who does plastering gave me the shade cloth that had been used at a job, so it has some gunk on it, but the chickens don't care!

I'm not sure, on either count. They're still peeping, so I assume eventually the males stop peeping for that breathy huff sound. I moved them from the breezeway to the goat pen last night, and they definitely all still peeped. Pretty sure the black is male, and the white one looking up at the work. They take turns leading the others around.

Jane, I think granny was in touch with Linda on fb last week or so. Thought she was going to come here and say hello.

Hoping she is ok. Think her living situation is causing a lot of stress.
