Not every day you get to see Vicky smack herself in the face.

He has been beat .It’s a local rescue group, as far as I know it’s all foster homes so no real shelter building. Teeth are shiny and bright like Josie’s. He also squatted to pee, but that could be an insecurity thing.
When I was walking him he was fine with me putting on the harness, but he doesn’t like the leash and got nervous when I moved the water hose and extentsion cord. He totally puts on the brakes if I try to get him through a door or a gate. He would get really still and just watch me from the corner of his eyes. So I treated him like a horse: talk a lot so he knows where I am, don’t sneak up or startle him, no sudden movements around his face, etc.
He liked walking through the field, but got nervous being near the house. I’ll keep walking him to build up his confidence.
I’d always be nervous with him around kids. Pits and curs aren’t really suited to our type of lifestyle, with kids and strangers always all over the place. That’s why we’ve always gone with labs: they’re dopey and friendly.
