Granny's gone and done it again

I get most of my dog and cat vaccines at TSC. Rabies has to be given by a vet so its documented, but everything else is done at home. I give my dog a small oral dose of Ivermectin once a month to keep heartworms and intestinal worms away. I'm not spending vet money when I can do it myself.
Me too. I did most of the vet work on my herd of goats in TN as well. The vets tend to charge more than the animal cost in the first place. Charged me $1600 to repair a defective ureter on my Papillon. Every time she fell asleep she peed. But she was one of my favorite dogs ever. Now that i am retired i couldn't afford that.

I've worked with lots of vets and all ways prefer those who take into account the clients ability to afford treatment over the ones in it to profit off our love for our pets. Knowing that theres almost always more then 1 way to treat illness or injury is important. But choosing the best way to help both the animal and the owner is what distinguishes a great vet from just a vet.
I have a goat question for you: did any of yours have goat pox? Seems it's a common problem around here. And we are considering some pygmies in the future. I just wouldn't know what to look for when buying some.

That sweet old face. She is getting a bit more frosting in her face.

Sigh. So, my nana’s not doing so well. They don’t know if she’ll last the ten days that the assisted end of life stuff takes anyway.

Is it weird my mom is already writing the obituary and planning the “celebration of life”? It just seems kinda morbid to me. She’s not dead yet. Yes it’s going to happen but...

Awww look at that sweet baby! So precious. What I will say about your Nana is this. When my sweet mother was about to pass my dad's sister advised us to handle the arrangements before she was gone, to help us in not making rash and emotional decisions. It was hard, but all for the better as I was a wreck when she left us.

Sad situation. I'm sorry
