Granny's gone and done it again

Actually I have seen an FHO done for way less than this: "The cost of an FHO ranges from $1,200 to $2,500. The exact cost will depend on the area you live, as well as the hospital in which the surgery is performed. Typically, the cost includes not only the surgery, but also pre-surgical bloodwork, anesthesia, post-surgical care and medications. Some hospitals may even include post-surgical physical therapy. It's fairly common surgery nowadays. Spendy, but not as much as you might think.
Times 2 legs. I think prices are higher here in CA. Everything seems to be more expensive here.
When my big dog snapped her ACL, the vet said she needed a procedure where they cut the top of the femur off and turned it 180 degrees and used filament to connect it all together. He didn't do the procedure, but quoted me $3,500-$4,000. Yeah, right. My hubs needed his PCL repaired, and rehabbed it just fine without surgery. So did the dog. And I researched it too, and lots of reasons not to do the procedure. Also, the vet made it WORSE by pulling in moving the joint around to "diagnose" it. She could put weight on it when we went in, and was hopping on 3 legs (for over 2 weeks) when we left. He sedated her for the diagnosis, so I said go ahead and clean her teeth and take care of whatever. After that he said she has a dead k9 tooth. Yeah, did you pull it? No, we don't do that any more. She needs a root canal. :rolleyes:Couldn't help myself after that... said the dog would have to get in line behind hubs' new crown and 2 sets of braces! I wanted Dr Pol and I got some veterinarian to the stars! Belle was 8 yrs old at the time, and 85 lbs. All that anesthesia would not good for her. She died at 12 yrs, using all four legs and with all her teeth in good condition. Even the dead one. Oh, and the vet visit just to "diagnose" and screw up her joint worse and to not pull the tooth was over $700.
In case you haven't guessed, I am skeptical of most vets around here. I am even worse about doctors.

You should go.
