the trunk will keep getting bigger as thats where the new growth comes from. I dont think wire will work. I been keeping it out of his reach but wont be able to with the bigger pot.

You can cut a cardboard circle... hole in the middle for the trunk, enlarged as needed.
How about some garden gnomes. If cat doesn't have room to dig, he will give up. Let the gnomes chase him out. Or you can used a bunch of garden stakes... make a fence out of them.

They have things like these at the dollar store.

No I got lost in my bathroom. Its a big scary place there.

It's more just to see what things look like together. I think Mexican sage would do well for you. They can grow large and showy and hummingbirds love them. easy care
