Thing's went excedenly well today. Vet pg'd 11 cows/heifers and bangs the 4 from last year and mileage came to 220 and change. He dropped the price by 5 bucks both on bangs and the pging per animal.

Curly Sue was very VERY indigent about being treated like a yak/animal and being made/forced to go thru the squeeze chute like the other 3. Rod was "making up" to her when I left.

I have NEVER seen Star so torked off as she was after being "violated" by the vet today.

as to the number of babies coming this year we were ALL wrong.

very chuffed about all 3 of the Colorado girls being in the family way and "DUE SOON" which means I got them all preggers NEW BLOOD !!!!!

Hailey is either 100 days along or about 100 days out and should be the last to calve, Robert called the Airplane guy and "their fencing is coming along nicely" Told him IF he get's the package and they are gone before she calves he is getting 8 of them BUT should she calve before that happens we are keeping the calf. Did NOT tell him when she is due. <wink , wink> he sounded even more excited and was going to call his brother asap.

And I was right Granny is preggers again.

Granola is open , which is good as she will just turn 2 this spring.

Janet the lazy thing is open yet again. I did have the vet check to make sure "things were right" and she could breed/calve again. SO if we end up in a drought or hay shortage this year I think she's going to be ground up in the fall/early winter. As much as I want a calf out of her. OR she might get one more chance.

Instead of feeding 2-3 bottles a day, I’m trying to mimic mama and feed little snacks (1-1.5 pints) every few hours. I’ve read studies from dairy farms about how more frequent feedings keep the abomasum (fourth stomach) more active, and creates better animals long term. Cattle people always talk about the big round grass bellies on last year’s calves, so I’m trying to get away from that. I want her to have pretty lines.

I always fed baby goats every 2 hours during my waking hours, once during the night.
