Granny's gone and done it again

Hahaa! I thought the gravel was huge! Must be a tiny thing. I almost got a betta last year. Spent forever choosing one, kept going back and changing my mind. Finally chose a blueish aqua green and walked around with it while I finished shopping. Then I came to my senses and put it back. Too many things to take care of and it's too cold in here for them without heat. I had one for a few years, kept him on the tv satellite box which kept him warm, but I could see him well. We've thought about getting another tank, but I don't like the filter noise. Maybe someday... getting older and hearing isn't as good!

its very tiny . regular sized gravel. I keep my house at 72 yr. round so all these are good unless the oven were to be on all day

then its very light weight and I could move it .
what filter noise didnt you like ? They have so many new different filters now. This one is run from air and I cant hear a thing.

My brother kept a small tropical tank when we were kids. Neons and orange swordtails and stuff I can't remember. Mine was one of those little white catfish. When the power went out, as it did at least once every winter, usually for a couple of days, he would have to scoop out some tank water and heat it in a pot on the wood stove. Worked pretty good, and aerated the water at the same time. Time consuming, but heck, there wasn't much else to do!

I will never have another tank I loved like my show tank. it was a 90 ? gallon tall. It had very think glass was 4ft. long , 18in. deep and twice the height of a 50 gallon at least. I had a nice stand , filter, heaters and lights for it. I had to take my shirt off, stand on a step stool and my finger tips barely skimmed bottom. I had to keep my head turned sideways when I had to work in it. I turned into salt water once . Had problems with that filter and that was a $500.00 filter. so I went back to fresh water.

I meant to say I couldn't see my beta very well on the tv box. Best set up I ever saw was at a bank. Huge bowl half full of water and overflowing with plants, the roots growing down through the water into the gravel, and lord of the underwater was a beautiful little betta. He looked so happy patrolling his domain.

My brother's pump for the bubbler kept up a constant vibrating hum. My tank (when I lived alone) had a filter that spilled the water back into the tank so it was constantly trickling. Made me have to pee all the time!

I am sensitive to noises, so it doesn't take much.

Well. Dog run is complete. Chicken run was also made this am...and hubs poked holes in the chain link of he dog run so the girls could go in there as well - he felt bad the chicken run was so small!

(We realized later that the dog could also easily fit through the chicken hole....good thing they get along so well!)

Back on the topic of dogs...oh my gosh that dog toy. Well...crazy dog ladies need toys too? Womp womp!

Also got the fishies and a bunch of plants today from the old house. And the BBQ. I think I'm just going to do little stops every night on the way home from work just to do more cleaning of stuff and get the last little bits from the house done. Hubs is hoping to get at least the 20 foot container in place this week so we can run the "project toterhome" stuff over. It's supposed to rain again this weekend...guh!

At least I got the girls' coop mucked out. Between the fact that I had straw in there and all the rain...it was pretty gross. (Hence the truck got stuck song). This was just down the road from
Me Friday.

Bear in mind all, I drive a front wheel drive Volvo wagon. I sure was NOT about to ford THAT river! I would have lost all my oxen, and little jimmy may have died of dysentery.

how does lucky bamboo root ? This air pump makes no noise at all and the waterfall pumps will be quiet if you stay on it and keep the water full in the tank. Location is key. Not next to tv or bedroom but somewhere you visit and can sit for a while .

Wow. I have heard how hard it is to keep a healthy salt water tank. They are beautiful, though. Hubs and I had a 50 gal in our kitchen when we lived in Pacifica. It was just for some goldfish that I rescued when a teacher abandoned them, or maybe didn't know they were still there, the water was so green. Those fish got huge and moved with us up here and lived in a bathtub outside for years. I lost them all one summer during a terrible heatwave. My fault.
