As happens in farm life, I’m about to lose #4. I found him weak and hunched over. I gave a shot of b, drench, cmpk, two syringes of milk, and three of Karo water. He’s absolutely limp.

And it’s hot. They’re all panting. I have them all drench and a syringe of Karo water. I need bottles and supplies to supplement them, but I need to stay near #4. He’s bubba’s favorite.

Someone is running to get lactated ringers from the vet so I can subq fluids. Sally said she’s seen it bring puppies back to life. I’m about to milk Gertrude again for him.

I set up a fan and the others seem to be doing better now. It’s HOT.

You can squirt alcohol on their ears and it will help if they are over heated.

Not great. So in the rundown of treatments:

Nutridrench (one squirt)
Cmpk (1/4 inch)
.5cc b inj.
Karo syrup on gums
Karo syrup + water (18mls)
Milked out Gertrude (12mls)

Lactated ringers (30cc in each side)
Lactated ringers again
9mls milk

Tubed 35mls of electrolytes/Karo/coffee

Multiple temp checks. Kept in “recovery” position.

Now we wait. I’m at the dining hall for supper. Sally said in 1.5 hours feed again, either tube or bottle.
