Well, yall know I put that little splash of silkie in some of them. I could tell them apart from the extra toe but even that was getting bred out of them. You couldnt tell they had a drop of silkie blood in them after a while. I did that for their broodiness and hardiness. It worked. I have a picture of 3 broody hens sitting eggs when my coop was attacked . Not the first one of them moved off their eggs and next morning one had hatched 3 littles. I gave those away w/ the few I had left.
I havent talked a lot about that day but I was in shock no doubt. Seeing that broody w/ her babies poking their little heads out while right next to her on the ladder was a wing of another stuck and ripped off. It was about more then I could bare. After I found someone to come dig a hole and rake all the parts up I went out there and just stood for hours tears streaming down my face. I watched him do everything never moving from my spot. I remember paying the man and him taking me by my arm leading me into the house. The next few days after that was /is a blur. I can still barely talk about it.
