There is great way to check if your deep freeze gets too warm. Fill a plastic bottle about 2/3 full of water and lay it down on its side to freeze. After the water is frozen, set it upright in the corner of the freezer. If you lose power and it completely melts, you will know, even if it refreezes. If it partially thaws, you will be able to tell. It works best with a large bottle that has enough mass to mimic frozen blocks of food.

a 2 liter and what does that tell you if its half frozen ? Still safe ?
