Ours is semi volunteer. They train and respond when needed, but there are several paid professionals that man the station. It's funded mostly by property taxes. Then there is CAL Fire which covers the whole state, summer seasonal workers for the ground crews and CAL Fire runs the air fleet as well. Right now southern CA is having the big fires.
No, it's hangin in. The squash plants got pretty wilted, but it just takes water and they do all right. I am watering trees too. Just a little dribble for a couple hours to get down to the roots.

No bags packed. We had enough time to get out last time, including all the animals. Not sure if we would leave again. Was ridiculous how long it took to be allowed back into your own neighborhood that didn't even burn.
