Granny's gone and done it again

No, it's actually the stamen of a flower grown exclusively in the middle East, specifically Afghanistan. I bought some plants to try to grow my own, so we shall see how it turns out.

I made it clear the last time. Someone wanted a very elaborate fondant cake that tasted like buttercream and had 2 different flavors (which did not go well together) and they wanted it to be big enough for exactly 100 people with no leftovers and within a week...I just shy of told them to stuff it and let them know I wasn't interested. Told them that my SIL didn't know what she was talking about and that I wouldn't do cakes for less than $20/hr, including baking time

Lol We get drafted into cooking for everything. And while we don't mind if we have time, my husband's family is huge and they all like to suggest us to friends...none of whom want to pay us for the work, because we "love doing it" and "we are friends with so-and-so"

Oh I hate that. I mean come on. Your time is worth something. Your skills are worth something.

If you came up to me and said hey, you're hosting a dinner, I want to make the main dish...that's one thing. But if I go up to you and say hey, I'm hosting a dinner I want you to make the main dish (or dessert. Or whatever) that would be followed up by a "how much would you want for this?

...though admittedly, I am fond of the cooking myself ;)

Don't get me wrong, we totally have and do donate our time. We've sold catered dinners for fundraisers with our church, catered my mil's book club, helped people write out meal plans, and I've done numerous parties and weddings for family. But that's where I draw the line, for family.
