Granny's gone and done it again

about 20 years

The average lifespan of a yak is about 20 years in the wild and slightly longer when in captivity. Like other species of cow, the yak is a herbivore and spends a great deal of time on grassy plains in the mountains grazing on grasses, herbs and wild flowers.

I know of a few in middle to late 20's and they are still having calves. SO its sort of a crap shoot

I've been sitting in there watching the chicks.. Twice today I've filled up their store bought feeder, and twice they've stood there and knocked every bit of the food out, I even elevated it a bit.. They purposely drag all the food out so they can forage around in the shavings and poo to find good stuff to eat...

have you tried hanging the feeder about head level for the chicks. at least then they shouldn't be able to scratch it all out.

They aren't scratching it out, they are using their beaks to drag it out.. Even if everyone is full and goes to lay down there is always one or two that stay until it's cleaned out.. lil peckerheads.
