She was dozing and I woke her. She didn't like the camera too much.

When parakeets are very young, their eyes are completely dark. As they age, they get the white rim around the edge. They don't seem to dilate that I have ever noticed... they always look that way.

It would change the price of the pup were it me Star. Maybe why buyer backed out. There temperament is different as well. More laid back . More socialization needed .

Wasn’t really a buyer backed out. It was a she does deposits for six pups per breeding. Any extra pups just go to wait listed people.

I never noticed the whole time I was raising keets that about their eyes ! LOL

The color of the cere (just above the beak where the nostrils are) tells the sex when the bird is close to being mature. Hers is reddish brown, so she's a mature female. Lupin's is blue for boy.
Also, the thin dark stripes on their head show age too. A baby has stripes covering its forehead completely. As they age, the stripes go away and recede up the forehead... like they are getting bald.

what about Lucy ? as in I love. Lucy and Lupine.

Lucy was my dog before Belle. #1 asked about Lily... that was my cat he barely remembers, he was so young.

We could try a flower name to go with lupines. Lupin was named for a Harry Potter character and because he is kind of purple, like lupines.

Lupin looked a lot like this one when we got him. Even had the dark tip on his beak.

Lupin had white around the nostrils, but the blue was starting to show. Maybe he was just being difficult!
