Granny's gone and done it again

Wish when you make the bone broth...what type of bones do you use?
My vietnamese market sells beef bones for 99 a pound....Im thinking about making some.

Do you use just bones or add veggies too?

Ive been doing like Mr. Granny (aka the Yak Daddy) mentioned...Ive been saving all my veggie peels and stuff in a bad in the freezer.

bbiaf Im going to run to the vietnamese market and see about getting some fresh fish....maybe a fish stew/soup with shrimp...a mexican style soup.

Bone broth is more of a health tonic type idea than something I would cook as a meal, although the broth can be used as a base for other soups and stews. I simmered the bones for 24 hrs, adding veggies for the last couple hours only (all veggie nutrients are extracted in an hr or so). 99 cents a pound is a great price. I'm lucky if I can even find them and they're usually $2-3/lb. Used beef necks and knucles, pork necks and feet, and turkey necks in the last broth. Looking for things with lots of cartilage for the collagen. You would be better off searching bone broth and reading a bit and finding a recipe. For some people, it's kind of a lie style.
Vietnamese food is yummy. My favorite is Thai.

I knew what I was saying....I wasn't clear in typing it..
I was just wondering what you use for the broth.
I wasn't going to make it "for dinner"..I do want to try making it at least once...just so I know how..in case I need to in the future.

Where is GRANNY!!!!!???

So Wish you mix the bone types up? pork, beef, turkey...whatever?
I was thinking it just needed to be one type of bone used.

Makes sense. Ill do some research.

If you save/freeze the shrimp and lobster shells, you can make a seafood base broth for next time. I saved up some dungeness crab shells and made a bunch of broth for cioppino (fisherman's stew). It came out yellow! It's in the freezer until I need it. Hopefully soon, before crab season ends!
