Granny's gone and done it again

I actually wanted Black Australorps but I only wanted 7 total. 6 pullets and 1 cockerel but all the hatcheries charge an extra fee for anything under 15 chicks so I found these JBG at my local feed store. I had to get straight run so I ended up getting 10 hoping for more pullets than cockerels.
Did you get any pullets? Are they nice?
I've had few Australorp hens and they were all very different, probably from different hatcheries, but chattiness is the one thing they have in common. They are noisy... talk talk talk! I can hear Spike out there right now. She lays eggs but has aspirations of being a rooster... silly little scream of a crow she does in addition to the talk talk talk. Nice eggs though!

I see you still have some green grass, Wishing.
Hi Pert! That pic was from early January. We had a bad rain year again. Still a little green left, but most of the grass is either brown or gone to seed.
The hills all around are about 75% brown already. Usually doesn't get that way until June.

How about you? Do you get summer rain and have to mow all the time?
We're pretty much done here except for string trimming.

I think I have 5 maybe 6 pullets and 2 or 3 cockerels. They are spoiled. I fed them treats out of my hand and now they think I have treats when they see me. They are still young.

We were getting a little dry until this week. Wednesday we got 3 inches to catch us up and it's been drizzling since. I understand it's going to rain good again tonight and tomorrow. We'll see.

You'll have to show us some pics. I can't have a big rooster. We have many close neighbors (that we actually like) so do want to disturb the peace.

@BCPFarm, The Kid lost his electronics the other day, too. What a great way to motivate/ discipline, I love it. He has after-school kitchen chores but he goes in his room and exercises his thumbs until I remind him to do his chores. I decided that he is old enough, at nearly 15, to take responsibilty to remember that chores come first. I'm trying to put myself out of a job. This should do it! 😆 After chores done each day he gets his electronics back.
They have been told no keys = no electronics. It is now 8 pm and still the keys have no been found. The only copy of several padlock keys were on that key ring.
