News flash!!
Went out to change the water again and had another surprise!
Not sure who was more startled. Little snake was trying to strike, poor thing, and frantically wagging his tail like a rattler. I knew gopher snakes mimick rattlers that way. Never knew king snakes did.

Only about 2 feet long. Beautiful critter.

Funny thing, hubs was just talking to the neighbor across the street who had seen 3 snakes (2 gopher, 1 king) in his yard and asked if we had any. Not for a couple of years... until today!

nope. they come in lots of different morphs. I used to have Albino.
