Granny's gone and done it again

I love that story! It wasn't a dumb thing to do, it was what any mother would do to provide for her DD and GK's. ❤️ In production sounds like it is a manufactured stone, not a mined one. But a mined one would likely cost a lot more. What matters is what it means to you. It is very precious and I'm glad you can finally replace it.

@cherrynberry, this is for you.

#1. Pic of MALE (I believe) Dominique week-old chick:

#2. Pic of (I believe) FEMALE Dom chick.

Note much smaller spot on head. There is also one chick with no spot at all I'm pretty sure that one is def a pullet.

#3. Just in case #1 is a pullet, I have several that look like this (that is a rear view, with that being the back of the head):

If I am mistaken, I look forward to being educated! Not sure if Doms' markings at this age are the same as Barred Rocks'.
I love domis

mystic topaz is a real topaz but it has to be treated with some kind of chemicals to give it the multi colored effect. The description sezs they are all real topaz. Topaz is just not an expensive stone.

Thanks! I have never owned doms or barred rocks, but from pictures, their markings look similar. The easiest way to differentiate them would be their combs, so I believe their markings are pretty much the same. Although, hatchery stock dont tend to prove to be easy to sex as chicks.

I am hoping to, as well! Have not had them before. Decided on these instead of Barred Rocks becaise of the combs. I think Rocks lay bigger eggs, don't they? Hope I don't regret my choice... But after my BJG suffered frostbite last winter, I don't want birds with big combs again.
