Granny's gone and done it again

Granny, this is the back of the original 2 room house on the farm where I grew up. The pile of wood is the old well house and the creek (dry) is right behind where I'm standing.

You can see there is newer brick work toward the top of the well. It's dry now and clogged with willow roots at the bottom, but at least they didn't have to carry the water very far. They had an outhouse nearby, but I'm not sure where.

Here's the front view. After they built the barn and the farm house, this got turned into a carriage house. You can see the different section my dad replace on the left side. That used to be a large sliding door to put the carriage inside. Dad turned it into a workshop.

that is awesome! Hard to think of you living there with a family. It looks like the chicken coop I lived in. Bout the same size. Mine was on stilts in the front and backed up to a train track. (you got used to the trains)

It's crazy how everything has gotten bigger - houses, cars, etc. I mean, if you have a SINGLE KID and you don't have a big bloated SUV...well how can you do it? Trying to buy a new house? Not going to find anything under 1500 square feet, and even that's TEENY TINY compared to what they're building nowadays.

(meanwhile, my parents handled we two girls just fine in a volvo sedan....)
