How long does it take for a chicken to eat something to make the color of their yolk change? I have read that if they eat marigold flowers the yolk will turn more orange. Would they need to eat it the day before...and the next day the yolk would show it... Or would they need to eat it for days before a color change is noticed? Just curious.

Chicken can deposit matirial in an egg, 10 days before laying! You will need to feed her much more than one dsy, you should remmber that not all the pigment go directly to the egg! It is better to give her hot paprika every day thus was my chicken egg yolk color with paprika 100 gram for 5 kg The red was my eggs the yellow the freshest organic store bought egg

It keeps them helty too. the Capsaicin in hot paprika is a good PREVENTER of many intestinal parasites and it is a good source for vitamins.

I was out with the chickens yesterday,,a man stopped and ask could he buy some of them..i said no but if i have any roosters when they get big nuff to tell he can have them..he said he would drop off fertile dominique eggs for me to hatch..i told him i had some coming soon..i took his number in case i ever what to hatch again..

DH's friend just stopped by..
He let me know he just bought some land to raise goats and meat chickens..
he said I can put some goats there as soon as his is finished getting everything ready!

I just found out...way last minute.. my niece is having a competition in Galveston tomorrow...which happens to be her big 10th bay..
so her smart momma

has decided to have her a birthday party down (abut 40 min drive) there.
