Granny's gone and done it again

Good morning all. Not much new going on around here. Most excitement was hanging up new calendars. More rain off and on, and it's warmed up quite a bit... was 50⁰ this morning. Nice after having lows below freezing for the last week.
Have lived here for 20 yrs and this is the first time we might have to mow in January!

The chickens are doing a fair job keeping it trimmed. The few eggs we are getting have dark orange yolks from all the greens they are eating. Look like spring eggs.
My 3 day headache has subsided. Big chore of day is to get my car smogged. Appt at 10:30.
Hope you feel better soon. I take salt pills for my headaches now. Seems to work.

Thanks. How are things going with you?
The days have been a bit dreary here, but I am not complaining... loving every drip and drop. Supposed to get a week of sun after Friday. The grass is gonna GROW.

Doing ok just dealing with a little holiday weight. Yes the rain is good. So grateful for it. Even if it messes up my dogs and house. Lots of mud.

@microchick , i got the samples today! Really nice! I am going to get photos and try to get the questionable ones identified by my group. Will send you some i collected.
Wow! That is amazingly fast. Glad you liked them and Rocks from Virginia?:weeYippee! Rock hounds are easy people to please. Somewhere I have a picture of me sitting on top of a big pile of rip rap happy as a clam in the sand where nobody can find them.

Hi everyone. I was lazy yesterday. Didn't do much constructive at all. Set here and watched stupid movies on Comet TV and ran warm water out to the chickens every three hours. I don't mind winter but this super cold sux.

Are any of you having trouble finding meat that you want or is it just here? I buy our groceries from a BIG local chain. These people never short on anything that they sell. So I did two months worth of shopping, always a bite money wise but this morning my designated shopper was texting me that they were out of beef round steak, chicken thighs, and bulk chicken leg quarters. They were able to find substitutes for me, mostly frozen Tyson products but I sure hope this isn't a taste of things to come.

There was an article in a local Farm Bureau publication that we get about the meat shortage. Around here they said, meat producers are not making more for their beef when they send them to market. The mark up is coming from the processors and the stores. That is bad they point out because the price of feed is going up yet they aren't seeing an increase in profit to offset the expenses they are dealing with. As a result some of them are getting together to set up their own processing facility and butcher shops where consumers can go to buy direct.

The big question is what is going on between producer and grocery store to make the prices go up in the first place.

I'd cut that while it's still green. I waited so now I'm stuck with tall brown grass I'm afraid to cut because we have a humidity of 24% or so and high winds usually and under a fire watch. I'm always hitting rocks with my mower blades and all it would take is one spark to get it started

Speaking of sparks. Saw a guy driving on his rim. Fast too. Sparks flying. I followed and thought oh he is going to stop at the tire place, no just drove by it. What is wrong with people?
