Granny's gone and done it again

Got some outdoor work done this weekend. Some weeks ago we hired a younger man to help us straighten out the broken roof on the "porch" on the side of our barn/shop. Some cows had busted two of the 4x4 supports holding up the roof and it was about to collapse. He agreed to do the job in exchange for a rear-tine tiller we never use, and also to come back and till our "garden" (chicken run) once he got it running and weather permitted. Yesterday was that day! He also tightened up my compost bin I rigged out of pallets. I'm real excited about that. I will dump the chicken litter from the coop into that when I clean the coop and poop boards (roosts) and the dogs won't get into it.

Next week our friend is coming back to fence off this part of the garden from the chickens so I can actually plant in it. I am very excited, as I have not been in good enough health to even THINK about a garden in several years. It won't be much. A few tomatoes, a zucchini or two. But mostly I need to thin out and move the lilies and daffodils. In another year or two I may be able to share some!
Sounds like a lot got done. I planted some Pansies the other day.

She's started to shake out if no where. Dogs, as you know, don't usually cry out in pain. But the shivering tells me she's uncomfortable, and she tosses and turns when trying to sleep. Trying to get comfortable on that belly. She did something to Cooper today too. She usually lets him know when she's done playing, but not like she did today! Guessing she hurt too bad.
What kind of tumors, Cynthia?

What kund of tumors, Cynthia?
Just lypoma, but if they get a lot, and get too big in certain areas, they can cause real problems. I had to put a dog down years ago because of them. She also is having a hard time breathing right. I have to adjust her head at night when I hear her struggle. She has a large tumor on both sides of her throat.

Soon I will plant the Calufornia poppy seeds Wishing sent me at Christmas. Can't wait to see their sunny faces! I hope the deer don't eat them.
Me too.. trying to figure out the right spot.

Oh dear, that doesn't sound good! Is surgery an option? My Gracie had some large fatty tumors (yes, lypomas) all over her body and we had them removed a couple of years ago. Most were pretty straightforward and encapsulated, but one on her chest was spidery and, I don't know the word, involved in and around her breast muscle. They didn't know that when they started on it. It was the last one they went after and she was almost under anesthsia too long, they said. But she came through okay. Just had kind of a long recovery, over a week. She's fine now. She was 10 at the time.

Since we are on the topic of plants…guess I will share some vineyard pictures.
